Winter Mountain Biking
WINTER RIDING TIPS
Always know where you are! Don't get lost in the cold.
Cover your head with a cap or a balaclava(it looks like a mask).
Keep hands and feet warm
Wear layers that are breathable.
Wear a base layer that is wicking(helps keep you dry).
Wear an outer layer that is not too heavy but will block wind.
Never under dress! You can always take off. Think of a mechanical or injury. You will get cold when you stop riding.
Look out for ICE! If you find yourself on ice stay straight and DO NOT BRAKE!
Try to ride in temperatures below freezing. Trails may get muddy when they thaw.
Go to your local shop to get some gear and get out and ride!

Winter
We are nearing the dreaded winter months on the East Coast for mountain bikers. But, we know, the die hard mountain bikers will ride in sub-below temps as long as the snow does not stop you. The trails are actually really cool in the freezing weather because they get really hard and fast. Check with your local bike shop for the appropriate clothing if you don't already own some. And as for you West Coast riders, enjoy your year-round riding! OK, so we're a little jealous.
